The name ‘Summerside’ comes from a city on Prince Edward Island. The Summerside neighbourhood borders run between 66th Street and Parson Road, and 25th Avenue and Ellerslie Road. Residential development began in the early 2000s and is still actively underway. Most homes in Summerside have ‘cape-cod' like architecture and are single-family detached homes with some townhouses, duplexes and some low-rise condos.
The Summerside Residents Association is a not-for-profit organization that offers a variety of recreational activities to the residents throughout the year. These activities include boating, skating, hockey, artistic crafts, karate and yoga, among others.
