Living in a Townhouse in Argyll

The land on which the neighbourhood of Argyll is situated was once identified by the first township surveys of the Edmonton Settlement. J. Eamer owned a half-section of land. The Eamer family segregated their estate in 1912, just before its annexation to Edmonton in 1913. The area, however, remained substantially undeveloped until it was re-plotted and developed in the 1950s. Argyll was initially called Edmonton City Heights, but it was renamed after Sir Douglas Sutherland Campbell, who was the ninth Duke of Argyll and Marquess of Lorne.
